May Poet·ings

Stuff I'm doing and other things that caught my attention

Poet·ings

Hello folks

How’s May treating you? Well, I hope.

My head’s full of busy and I barely have a moment to think but I’m enjoying the way the garden is beginning to pop. Everything is looking lush and green and I’m reminded of how gorgeous that move from spring to summer can be.

I really want to spend less time in front of my laptop and more time just enjoying the world around me. Saying no to those time-consuming little asks that creep into my inbox should help with that. Life is too short to fill your days with things you should say no to.

Sometimes that’s easier said than done but it helps to remember - you don’t have to give a reason. EB White knew that.

Some thoughts on… Bluey

Bluey is the best thing on telly. And I’m not alone in thinking that either.

That’s it. That’s the message.

Somewhere to catch me, if you can…

I’ve not got any gigs coming up this month but next month I have two. And one of them’s at Glastonbury!

  • Poetry and Words, Glastonbury Festival, Saturday 29 June, 18:28 BST

I can hardly believe it!

Something else that caught my attention…

I’m in a bit of a love-hate relationship with Instagram at the moment. I’m trying to use it more as way of connecting with readers and other creatives but I still find the whole business of self promotion and content creation a bit tricky. There are so many people producing awe-inspiring content and (although I know it’s not as effortless as they make it seem) it can be daunting when you have a tendency to compare yourself to others.

Then the other problem is getting distracted when I should be working. But sometimes that’s just what’s needed. And I’ve got to say, finding these cute little Becorn characters made by David M Bird, a former lego designer, were just the tonic when I stumbled across them during a late night doomscroll. Just gorgeous.

That’s all from me for now. Thanks for reading.

p.s. Withnail and I at Birmingham Rep was flipping brilliant. So good I booked tickets to catch the last night too.
